In 1913, Ardrossan Academy Former Pupils reached the final of the Scottish Amateur Cup.  It is thought that they are the only Ardrossan football team to reach a national cup final.

LEITH AMATEURS 1 – ARDROSSAN ACADEMY FORMER PUPILS 0
Scottish Amateur Cup Final
This Amateur Cup final tie was played at Hampden Park, Glasgow, before a small attendance.   In the first half, Leith, playing with the wind, had more than an equal share of the play and the Ardrossan goal had several narrow escapes.  Leith forced a succession of corners and kept their opponents on the defensive but failed to score.  On resuming, Leith again forced the pace and looked like opening the scoring when Henderson was brought down within the penalty area.  Douglas took the kick and scored.  Up to this point, play had been featureless but the reverse caused the Ardrossan team to redouble their efforts.  Leith, however, gained confidence from the lead but their opponents could make no impression on their defence.

DEMISE OF ARDROSSAN CELTIC
The Ayrshire County meeting did not last long, the sub-committee having more business to transact than the general body.  The new clubs this season are Catrine, Lugar, Cumnock Juniors, Prestwick United, Trabboch and Kilmarnock Springvale.  The clubs who have not come forward this season are Ardrossan Celtic, Ayr United, Camlarg, Saint Joseph ‘s Hibs, Riccarton Juniors, Saint Andrew ‘s United, Rankinston Mountaineers, Skares and Springside.
Surprisingly, this is the only reference found on the demise of Ardrossan Celtic.  The story was not mentioned in the Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald.
