A match was played between these two clubs on the ground of the former (probably
on 15 May 1880) and resulted in favour of the latter by six goals to none.
A scratch team is one put together, perhaps from other clubs, for a one-off occasion.
The report gives evidence of the existence of an Ardrossan Scratch team in 1880
but no further documentation has been found.
