The Ardrossan Academy played the Saltcoats Public School at South Beach, Ardrossan on Saturday (29 February 1896) and the game resulted in a win for the Academy by five goals to two.

We have received notice of an error which appeared in our columns last week in connection with the game between Ardrossan Academy and Saltcoats Public School (on 29 February 1896) for which we beg to apologise. The result as stated by us was five to two in favour of the Academy but the correct figures as per information to hand were four goals to three in favour of Saltcoats Public School.

Ardrossan Academy Football Club was apparently founded in 1896 and played only one reported game.

Another Ardrossan Academy Football Club was formed in 1902.
